UWC Day 032 – Cruising Day

Cruising day as we go toward the Drake Passage to get to Antarctica. Attended some presentations and caught up on some rest.

Top Tier Event

I usually don’t go, cause I’m not awake, but I happened to be awake so went to the top tier event. Mostly nothing to write home about, but they did do their employee of the month ceremonies out in front of the guests which was a nice little treat.

Sort of like the Oscars or other award ceremonies where they paraded out all the nominees then gave the winners. Really nice to recognize the crew that we’ve all been around for 30+ days at this point.

Captain Stig Weather Update

The captain is hilarious and amazing. He did a weather update and then some Q&A (I went to go people watch for the questions that got asked).

Anyone that knows me, knows that I love me some data, and Captain Stig didn’t disappoint. He showed us the course and data for our original itinerary through the Drake Passage (30ft waves….yikes), and for the revised itinerary (6ft waves).

Very glad they made the decision and I’ve never felt more safe than with this crew, they’re top tier and super communicative about their decisions and just overall the best.

Enjoying Some Air

Even though it was really windy and all the outer decks were closed, I found I could go to the back of the windjammer and still enjoy some air (and it’s relatively sheltered from the wind). I got some photos edited and enjoyed myself out there.

As I was passing through, noticed they had shrimp chips, so grabbed a few of those to munch on over the day as well.

Food

We’ve officially cycled through the 28 day menu, but still really good food. Had the melon salad and the ribs (special) and some cheesecake to finish.

Entertainment

Was heading to the pub, when I noticed on a screen that Air Force One was playing on the pool deck, so of course I had to go check that out. Huge towel animals, and baby ones as well have joined the party.

Lovely sunset as well as the movie played, and what a good time out on deck.
