UWC Day 124 – Tokyo, Japan – Day 1 of Tokyo Disneysea

Traveled to Tokyo Disney Report and had day 1 of our Tokyo Disney trip. Really cool to share this with Nate and mom this time around. First time at the Toy Story Hotel and I’m loving every minute of it.

Plaza

Headed out in the morning and took an Uber over to Disney. Got there and explored the plaza area and mall (Ikspiari) for a bit. Also picked up our vacation package and dropped off luggage which was really nice.

Stopped to get some food as well, and as Nate and mom shopped, I noticed a sign that when translated said Olive Garden, but definitely not our chain in the states. It turns out its a BYO meat and they provide the grill and garden space to have your own picnic. Pretty neat idea.

Disney Transit

We took the tram over to the resort area. Everything on the tram was pretty amazingly themed with Disney stuff and so smooth.

Toy Story Hotel

Stopped by to get our vacation package and see the hotel, and we had a great time exploring the hotel and getting our first impressions. So well themed, and soooo many Lotso’s.

Reception

The front desk was super cute. After checking in, we were chilling in the lobby when the staff asked us to come be a part of a “special celebration”. Turns out they just love having people come up and they celebrate each guest and take pictures with them. Definitely different, and not something I was going to wait in line for :D.

On to Disneysea

We set back out with our stuff, and headed to Disneysea.

Disneysea

Lovely day at Disneysea, even with the light rain, it was a fun half day in the park. There weren’t a ton of people in the park because of the rain, so we got to just wander without a ton of traffic.

Entrance Plaza

All over the main viewing areas, we saw very neatly organized stickers for seats for people, instead of just chaos, and also people already squatting with their picnic blankets and were squatting for shows.

McDucks

Toy Story Area

Tower of Terror

First popcorn try as well — garlic shrimp, pretty good, not super overpowering flavor.

Boat Parade

Definitely more people out there with the rain letting up, and the parade coming out.

Cape Cod

We headed to the section of the park modeled after Cape Cod and found out it was Duffy’s hometown (Mickey’s teddy bear). Good ol fashion carmel corn for popcorn . Then headed over toward the nemo and aquatopia side and got popcorn — soy sauce and butter — not my cup of tea, soy sauce OR butter, but not together.

Aquatopia

I LOVE trackless technology. It’s so cool.

Marine Life Institute

Nemo and Dory themed simulation ride, but pretty immersive, since it used screens on the peripheral as well. Really cool, and imagine if Star Tours could upgrade, it could take a note from this ride.

Also…HUG someone today and keep your trash to yourself.

Monkey Sighting

As we were walking around the park, we found some monkeys (from Jungle Book I believe) that were going up and getting a massage from a guest — it was hilarious, and then we saw Abu randomly run out from behind a wall.

Not gonna lie…a life sized Abu was actually slightly terrifying.

Indiana Jones

Some vibes from the Indiana Jones side.

Arabia

Waited for Nate and mom who went to ride rides, and got to wander around the arabia portion. Really fun to just wander around with all the building and architecture, especially as we head toward that part of the world on the cruise.

Soarin

We headed over to Soarin with our FastPasses and the queue line was actually really cool. Very different from the Disney World one that we’ve come to know and love. We were wondering if it was going to be a different show, since the pre-show was all about the history of flight and even birds and dragons, but alas…it was the same good ol Soarin ride that we’ve seen, but finishing in Tokyo Disney instead of at Epcot. Still pretty good, but not sure I’d wait 2 hours if we didn’t have FastPasses.

Castle Section

Sat in the castle section in the middle of the park for a bit while taking a break and getting some food.

Drinks and Food

TURKEY LEG.

Leaving the Park

After getting some food, I headed back to the hotel while Nate and mom went to use the rest of the FastPasses, cause I was pretty tired. On the way out of the park, enjoyed some of the views, and also stopped by Toy Story to rescue a new Lotso friend (he’s SOOOO fuzzy and soft — softer than the US Lotsos).

Toy Story Hotel

Got back and enjoyed my way up to the hotel room.

After Nate and mom came back, got some dinner at the little mart in the lobby and got some sandwiches and some other food, before starting to edit some photos.

Late Night Photoshoot

After we settled in for the day, I went downstairs and walked around a bit for a little photoshoot of my own, since there was no one else around down there around midnight (all the kiddos are sleeping :D).

Enjoyed the time up on the second level little park area, with some really nice Toy Story theming. New Lotso enjoyed being a model in the photos.

Vibe Check
