Heading to City

Got off the ship in Keelung and took the train over to Taipei nice and early in the morning.

Got off at Songshan station and had an hour to kill before getting to lunch with our uncle, so we walked around seeing Raohe Street Night Market without any of the vendors out, really interesting to see the street in the daytime. Also saw a bunch of stuff set out near the temple which was also really interesting to see.

Stopped real quick for some breakfast from 7-eleven and saw a giant dragon inflatable celebrating the new year.

Lunch – Beef Noodle Soup (Niu Rou Mian)

We met up with our uncle and got some delicious beef noodle soup and had a good time catching up before walking around a bit to just chill around Taipei.

Walking around the City

We started just wandering around the city, taking in the views with a little less foot traffic than if we were in the center of Taipei.

Sheng Kee Bakery

Got some more snacks on the way from a bakery as we walked by.

Also saw some cakes and resisted temptation.

Bubble Tea – MooCubed

Found our first stop for bubble tea at a shop called MooCubed. On the wall outside, they had a fun little display to help you choose what to drink in case you are indecisive, or want some help.

Found some of my favorite teas, and got some pudding and boba and enjoyed bubble tea number 1. Was going to try to consume 4 during the day, but it was already around 2pm, so that wasn’t looking like it was going to happen.

More Random Street Food

Kept wandering down some side streets and found some more snacks.

Random Toys

Found a Lotso claw machine and tried a couple for fun, but moved on after awhile. Saw a whole bunch of random knick knacks and toys as well as we wandered.

Pintoo Puzzle Store

My favorite puzzle brand in the world happens to be in Taipei, so I set back to try to make it to the puzzle store, but found that the store I had gone to in the past was closed. The nearest one was back across the city. Good thing a friend of ours had come to chill with us and took us over to that area.

ALL the puzzles.

We found the store inside an Eslite Bookstore (which is more like a multi-level mall). When I saw the display sections, I immediately knew I was going to buy like all the puzzles.

Love this brand because the quality of the puzzles are just great, and they use plastic puzzle pieces instead of cardboard puzzle pieces. They make a really nice finished product, while being insanely satisfying to put together.

Keelung Night Market

We got back to Keelung, and after making a quick stop back onboard the ship to drop off all the puzzle stuff, I headed back out to meet Nate and Mom out at the night market.

There was the usual amazing food everywhere, but also there were way too many people and I quickly remembered how much I dislike being in crowds. Ended up going to some slightly quieter spaces and found a second bubble tea of the day and then a bubble waffle which was delicious as usual.

Dinner

Got back on the ship eventually and had a little bit of dinner before calling it a night.

Another long day, but really good to be back in Taipei and just wander. Always a fun visit.
