UWC Day 087 – Sydney, Australia – All Around the City with Tours

Sunrise Kayak Tour, Bridge Climb and Sunset Photo Tour. A really packed day, but some awesome weather and sights all around and couldn’t have asked for a better day 1 in Sydney. I might be falling in love with Australia. So much walking.

Sunrise Kayak Tour

Started the morning with a sunrise kayak tour with Sydney by Kayak. It was advertised when I booked it as a small group (no more than 12 people), but when I got there, it looked like they had combined tours and their website now says 6:1 ratio for a guide ratio (so they must’ve changed it at some point). No biggie, was still a nice, easy paddle through the harbour. Really beautiful space and kinda cool to start pre-dawn.

Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb

After kayaking, walked the 40 minutes tot he Bridge Climb, by walking across….the Sydney Bridge. Really nice views and wasn’t yet super hot.

The climb itself was really nice, it was definitely NOT as hard as the website made it sound and how people made it sound. The stairs are really not that tall (about half height of normal stairs), and just a really easy pace.

I had booked the Burrawa version of the climb where an aboriginal guide takes you up the bridge and tells you stories too, but as I got to the bridge, I got a call that our guide felt ill so wasn’t going to make it. We had a different guide who was equally awesome and took these photos for us.

The first hour was just getting all the gear on (which was quite an ordeal), but once we started climbing it was pretty wonderful, and lovely views.

Lunch and Rest

After the Bridge Climb, I walked back once again across the Harbour Bridge and back to my AirBnB. It was getting hot, but after a quick shower, I set out to scavenge for food, and was pleased to find a lovely little mall in North Sydney and some really great food.

Saw this van as well which made me giggle a little and send it to some of my Chewy friends. Apparently it’s like the online pet market is following me around the world.

Took a quick rest afterward for about an hour and a half just getting off my feet for a bit.

Sunset Photo Tour

Walked once more across the Bridge to get to The Rocks for the start of my first photo tour with Picture Me Sydney. Nice lovely sunset photo tour with Terry Rogan and got to find some really nice spots and get some nice tips / lessons on leveling up my photography (especially for street and city photography).

Terry was kind enough to drop me off after the tour, and after another quick shower, just sat down to get a few of the photos off the cameras before settling in for the night. Super tired with all the travel that had been going on the last couple days and so little sleep.
