UWC Day 060 – Cruising Day – Preparing for a Side Trip

Another semi-relaxing cruising day, filled with preparations and getting ready for a small side trip.

Logistics Drama

Got a semi-confusing letter about disembarking from Cabo because of my little side trip to Hawaii. So many questions that came up because of that, that I had to spend quite a bit of time clarifying with guest services.

There was a note that I needed to bring “All my belongings” to customs — and I needed to clarify if it was just the stuff I was bringing off the ship, or literally ALL of my belongings, which I would’ve just cancelled my trip rather than lug everything down to deck 5 just to bring it all back up. Two different people told me two different answers, and finally had to get it all squared away (and just had to assume I was good to go).

There was also a fee for the customs people that had to be paid in cash, and exactly $58/person. I’ve been intentionally not carrying a ton of cash with me, so that I don’t buy a lot of stuff I don’t need, and definitely don’t have exactly $58 so had to dip into my Euros to change them out for the fee to get off the ship…would’ve been nice to have planned that expense up front.

Finally, spent some time going back and forth with some of the AirBnB’s and Tours I’ve booked to make sure everything is squared away (filling out waivers, sending identification and insurance cards, etc.). All in all, a pretty productive day, but LOTS of logistics. Thank goodness for cruising days.

Relaxing in the AFTernoon

Caught the sunset as I was processing some stuff before heading back inside.

Food

Lamb stew, corn fritters, pasta and grilled chicken and panna cotta.

More Swag

Ended up with more swag when I got back to the stateroom. Another coin to commemorate the full segment of the Americas.

Vibe Check

4 parts joy

1 part sadness – for all the logistics drama
