Cruising day, but ended up being kind of a wild day. Didn’t need to wake up since we had a cruising day, so slept in till noon, when my stateroom attendant knocked on the door and woke me up (my fault…didn’t put the sleeping magnet on the door).
Unexpected Fun
Was heading to get some coffee, when I looked outside and saw a bird just cruising along in the window with it’s head turned toward me and with the sun lighting it up from above. I went out to snag a couple of photos, and started following it and found myself on the helipad, and as I reached the top of the stairs to the helipad, I found that there were a LOT of birds circling along and just floating along as we cruised.
Spent about 2 hours out there taking photos of these fun birds, including a little battle for the top of a pole for a bit.
Also pretty entertaining cause I was taking some photos, and all of a sudden there was a person in my shot (as I was tracking the bird, not them moving into my field of view). I ended up chatting with her and giving her the photos as well.
Went back out there around sunset as well, and had a great time with the views. Even saw a dolphin jump out of the water a couple times and swim right under the ship. Really nice time and unexpected on a cruising day.
Back Inside
As I headed back inside, I was surprised by a little bird towel (it’s like my stateroom attendant just KNEW). So many birds today!
Other Activities
Spent most of the rest of the day not shooting photos of birds, by going through the 2500 photos from yesterday. So beautiful and almost get to relive the experience again a second time just looking at and enjoying the photos of our time in Costa Rica.
Future Plans
Spent a good portion of the evening as well planning for Tokyo Disney as it’s coming up soon, and we needed to lock down plans. Thank goodness I had planned a trip in the past, or else it could’ve been really frustrating with the booking plans, but have all the hotels, transportation and tickets all paid for now (including a ride on the bullet train for the fam). Hoping mom and nate will love Japan as much as I do :).
Food
Shaved melon salad, a steak and another lovely soufflé.
Photo Print
After dinner, headed to the gallery to pick up my print for the segment, and love how it turned out (the other two were also great). The running joke with the royal photographers is that this is my photo with my wife. Thinking of 14 other poses for the remaining segments to use my included photo now that I’ve leveled up in loyalty status.
