UWC Day 010 – Cruising Day and Catching up on sleep

Short-ish post, because it was a short-ish day. Apparently running on fumes from the last couple days of excitement and lack of sleep catches up with you. I slept in to no alarm, and found myself waking up at 1 PM. Even though it was already late, I still felt groggy most of the rest of the day.

Dolphins? DOLPHINS…

I checked the notifications on my phone as I was groggily waking up to find someone posted about dolphins off the port side a couple minutes before. I contemplated getting up and running over, but decided 1) they were probably far-ish away, and 2) wasn’t really awake enough to go take photos.

No worries, though, when I did get up a while later, I saw dolphins a couple times during the day, swimming out around us (with birds also swarming overhead as well).

We’ll probably see more in the wild as we go along….maybe…

Catching Up

I squatted around 2:30 ish to start editing photos and finishing up / catching up on blog posts, and videos (still processing the videos…but almost there…they’re taking their sweet time uploading to YouTube).

However, I was able to just chillt here from 2:30 to 7:30 and get a nice long timelapse of the sunset. Got some sun briefly, and then some rain and a rainbow as well, but mostly was good to just relax and not be moving in the sun and humidity…nice breeze toward the end of the afternoon.

Tracking the Moon

Got bigger and more yellow / orange as the night went on, but this was early around 7:30 PM.

Food

Asian food night! It’s always a little bit of a gamble. It can range from authentic street food to panda express food. It turned out to be closer to the latter from chatting with a few folks around me.

Ended up going with the spring rolls, the special of the day (jerk chicken…it was delicious), the sea bass (which was also pretty good), and the lychee tart (which was…so-so, not bad, but nothing to write home about).

Particularly, the sweet potatoes that came with the chicken were grilled or baked to perfection, and the squash with the sea bass was amazing).

Running

Got a midnight run in, and could see the moon and stars out there, but also some shoreline and city lights. It appears as though we’re going to split the two islands to get to Barbados.

Vibe Check

3 parts joy

2 parts sadness (mostly sad that I need so much more sleep these days…)
